Twenty kilograms of personal items and ten minutes to leave the house. Forced expulsion is the common experience of civil victims of any war regardless their origin or nationality.

“The End and the Beginning“ is an intimate story about mass deportation seen from two women’s perspectives. It is a film about a Pole and a German placed on opposite sides by World War II. It confronts different experiences and their paradoxical similarities, reflecting on the concepts of invaders, victims, guilt and forgiveness.

The film revisits the documentary tradition of war testimonies and redefines the use of archival footage giving them experimental form and the character of visual art.
